Statement of Accessibility

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. That is a target we work toward, not a certification: no independent audit has been carried out and no conformance report has been published. Accessibility problems are fixed as they are found or reported.

Published course pages — the pages under /courses/— expose a floating accessibility control panel in the bottom-right corner. It is not present on the rest of the site. The panel offers learner-controlled adjustments across four areas:

• Vision: text size, bold text, line spacing, letter spacing, dyslexia-friendly font, link underlines, heading highlights.
• Color: high / dark / inverted contrast modes; low / high / grayscale saturation.
• Motion: pause animations, pause animated images, enlarged cursor.
• Reading aids: reading guide line, reading mask, amplified focus indicator.

Settings persist on the device and apply immediately. Reset is one click away. Adjustments scope to the lesson surface only — chrome and other routes remain unaffected.

The platform is designed to work with current versions of the major screen readers (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, TalkBack), keyboard-only navigation, browser zoom up to 200%, and operating-system level contrast and motion preferences (prefers-reduced-motion, prefers-contrast).

Some features are still being improved:

• Animated GIFs embedded in lessons can be visually marked as paused but cannot be frame-frozen without re-encoding. We recommend course authors use videos with explicit play controls instead.
• Inverted-contrast mode inverts images alongside text — this is standard behavior across accessibility widgets, but may render photographs unexpectedly. Disable inverted contrast when studying images.
• The dyslexia-friendly font falls back to system Comic Sans MS unless the OpenDyslexic font asset is hosted on the deployment.

If you encounter an accessibility barrier on any course, please report it. We treat accessibility issues as priority bugs.
