Privacy

SkillTycoon is published by Jayso Foundation. Courses are free. We run no advertising, we do not sell or rent personal data, and we do not share it with data brokers or advertising networks.

What we collect

If you only read: nothing that identifies you. Until you accept analytics, we set no analytics cookies at all.

If you create an account: the identifier you signed in with — an email address, or a phone number if you used a one-time code, or your name, email and profile picture if you used Google. Accounts exist so your course progress follows you between devices.

As you take a course: which lessons you have completed, when, and your answers to in-course quizzes. This is what draws your progress bar and lets you resume.

If you accept analytics: which pages you viewed, which lessons you finished or abandoned, and general technical information such as browser, device type and approximate location derived from your IP address. We do not store your full IP address for analytics.

Why

To run your account and save your progress, and to find out which courses actually help people. A course where most learners stop at lesson three has a problem we cannot see any other way. That is the entire purpose — there is no advertising or profiling behind it.

Who processes it

Google Firebase— sign-in, database and hosting. Stores your account and progress.

Google Analytics— how visitors arrive at the site. Only after you accept.

PostHog— product analytics, hosted in the United States. Only after you accept.

Courses published on other organisations' domains

Some organisations publish SkillTycoon courses at their own web address. On those domains we run no analytics whatsoever. Your account and progress still work, because they belong to you rather than to the domain.

How long we keep it

Account and progress data is kept while your account exists. Analytics data is retained for at most 14 months and is not linked to your name or email.

Your choices

You can decline analytics and still use everything — no feature is withheld. You can clear this site’s data in your browser to reset that choice. See cookies for the specifics.

You can ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account and everything attached to it. Email tech@skilltycoon.com. Depending on where you live you may have additional rights, including the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

SkillTycoon is intended for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
